Structure of Written Report

Here is a brief description of contents of your written report on a neurological disorder/disease:

About 1200 words in length. Cite at least 4 papers from Pubmed

Sections of Report:

  1. 1 sentence: name and summary of disease/disorder

  2. Describe the symptoms of the disease

  3. Describe the typical patient population: female/male, age of onset, genetic/ethnic background, occupational or environmental hazards

  4. Known or suspected causes at the level of body/brain/neurons: what parts of brain or nervous system are affected by the disorder, and how do those account for the disease symptoms. (e.g. Alzheimers -> death of cortex and hippocampal cells -> memory and cognitive deficits and dementia)

  5. Known or suspected causes at the cellular/molecular level: what is happening within neurons that causes the disorder (e.g. Alzheimers -> build up of beta-amyloid protein)

  6. Typical treatments for patients, either pallative or as a cure (if available).

  7. List of References. You should cite at least 4 papers from Pubmed
